Gibson County Chamber of Commerce Members May Receive a 3-Point Web Site Audit
- Courthouse Webs™ will provide all fellow Chamber members with a FREE Web site audit upon request.
- This is a $50.00 value, provided to you at no cost so that you may examine the strengths and weaknesses with your current Internet Marketing Approach. The audit covers these three key areas of your Web site:
- Markup Validation Test - The "Markup" is the computer code "behind" your web page. It's the only thing that Web indexing crawlers, such as Google®, can "see" when they visit your site. A great-looking design is important, of course, but people need to find your site first. Many of your customers will find your Web site by utilizing one of the three top search engines: Google®, Yahoo!® or Microsoft's® Live Search. Those search engines (and all of the others) are completely sightless robots.
Courthouse Webs is a We Inform Agency™.
We educate our clients on auditing procedures and how to utilize the Web industry's benchmark testing programs so that they can determine if we're providing them with a highly engineered final product. We succeed at achieving outstanding industry-standard benchmarks. In fact, every page of every Web site that we create for our clients passes or exceeds W3C standards. No one would erect an new office building or build a new home without holding the contractor to industry standards. Why not demand the same from your Web Designer or IT team? Courthouse Webs highly recommends the W3C's Markup validator. We show you how to use this tool to audit us. » - "Vanishing Web Site" Test - The problem with Web browser clients, such as Internet Explorer™, Firefox™, Safari™, and others, is that those programs are loaded with a limited amount of legally licensed text font families.
This page utilizes Arial, for example. This is Times New Roman. These two fonts—and a few others— are included with all browser clients. You may learn more here. »
A Web with only a few available font families in a world populated with 1000s of great-looking typography options creates a great deal of angst for Web designers. So what they oftentimes do is embed text into images that capitalizes on the value that a fancy font family can bring to the Design. Then they overlay the final results onto the site's design. While the result is seamless and pretty—and a completely acceptable practice—it also requires a Development step that is frequently overlooked with the "Design Only" approach. Web search engines cannot "read" what's inside of images. Oftentimes, very important information is included within these "text images" and that information may vanish if a sighted person turns off images to speed up download times or to save on cellular fees and charges when using phones or PDAs. Recall, too, that search engine robots utilized by Google®, Yahoo!® or Microsoft's® Live Search are completely "sightless." If the information within those text images is important (and it probably is—that's why you're sharing it with prospective customers) it's wise to share that news with everyone. Courthouse Webs will turn off your images on our machine and provide you with a printout of the result. Our clients avoid this malady because we Develop before we Design. That's the De³™ Advantage.
